Final cut (making)

Rough cut analysis
After completing the rough draft, me and my team mates made a conference call with our teacher to discuss our blogs and the rough cut. Although we were supposed to have a meeting at school but due to the COVID19 pandemic, we made the call. Honestly it was as equally productive to us meeting at school could have been.

We started with discussing our blogs and how to make them more personal experience based, especially how we’re handling things during this disease outbreak. Then our teacher reviewed the video with us live on screen so that he could tell us the mistakes step by step. I wrote down points that needed to be revised in the video.

Another point that sir indicated that the girl waking up doesn’t suggest anything, not in itself or in the narrative of the song. So he gave an idea of adding fast forward clip of various people waking up annoyed by the morning rather than just one in that timeline. We loved this idea but the problem was how to shoot because we couldn’t really get out of our houses and do it as a group. Fatima and Iqra contributed to take the responsibility of shooting the new clips.
I hope we get done with them on time otherwise the making of the videos would also get delayed because it takes me a lot of time to sort out shots and then cut them according to the rest of the video, keeping all the important factors in mind such as the lighting angles and of course the main narrative.
Rough Cut (Making)
In school, I had already done a bit of practice for the making of the rough cut so now it was much more easier for me.
I started with opening a new project with the name of Rough cut. I kept the formats the same as we ere instructed at the first place by our teacher which included the ones of rendering, video, audio and capture, although of capture we could change. But of course keeping it the same was better.
After this I had to set my workspace, which is basically the platform in which the editing is done and can be set according to every editors preference. So, I made my own, which was already made when our teacher taught us about it.

After adjusting the workspace, the desktop appeared NORMAL to what I was used to of seeing in school.

Moving on, I started with making a new sequence

As the sequence the appeared in the tab parallel to the screen, all I had to do is drag and drop the clip on the timeline. If I didn’t find clip or missed or didn’t like any from the sequence while editing I just simply dragged and dropped from the folder it was in.
As I added clips one by one, I kept cutting them while keeping the shot list in mind as in this way I could actually save time.

I kept repeating the step of adding and cutting step till the montage ends.

Then I add the audio of the song right after the
Shoot Analysis
After we completed shooting the clips, we discussed them with our teacher to sort out the best ones aside. Personally I think that although our shoot wasn’t up to the professional standard but us taking out flaws from our own work on the end of the day and recovering it made us recognize the difference between good and bad shoots. What aspects made a shoot successful.
Me and Fatima sat and sorted out the clips while saving the best ones separately for possible rough cut. This was a very important step as well because judging from the detailed shoot we had done, we didn’t need to shoot more clips because if we cut them short then a lot details would have been missed so we decided to increase the duration rather than add more clips
Budget
This is the budget for the production of our video. Altogether I think our project doesn’t have many specific requirements other than some props

Shooting Schedule
Codes/Meaning of connotation
What we are trying to show in our music video is that happiness is something that can be obtained through anything from the smallest deed to bigger presents and surprises.
Our introduction, which is the sunrise and the birds flying, shows the start of a new beginning. It shows the calmness of a new day when everyone wake up with new hopes. Then the bus stop scene shows normal routine of people, the busy life that everyone is indulged in, regardless of what is going around them and what everyone is going through.
The costume of the artist will be all colorful to express joy because happiness can be found within different aspects of life. The funky dress up is going to show how care-free he is. The different colors are going to show different feelings and emotions.

The montage of extreme closeups of people smiling at the end will show how there faces reflect the happiness in there mind. We decided to show extreme close ups because the extreme close-up shot is traditionally used in film to allow the viewer to enter the character’s intimate space, revealing certain characteristics and emotions that would otherwise go unnoticed from afar. This unnaturally close view intensifies feelings that the character is experiencing and allows us to feel sympathy for, and establish a connection with, the character in question. At such an extreme intimate proximity, every subtle expression, muscle movement, facial characteristic, reflection and detail becomes that much more apparent. In this way, it emphasizes the dramatic importance of the scene, making it stand out with respect with respect to the video as a whole. And in this case, happiness is what we are trying to show.
